New year, new you! Right? Well that?s probably what you said until only a few moments later when your taste buds took over your mind and ?forced? that delicious piece of chocolate cake down your gob. At least your taste buds are content, but what about you?

What happened to self-control?

Being able to control what you eat is probably one of the hardest things for us students who really have no time to change bad eating plans because STUDY seems to take over lives.

Did you know that 80% of losing weight is actually in the food you eat?

There are THOUSANDS of diets out there and I mean thousands! There are nutritionists, doctors, fitness advisors telling you all sorts ? it?s a giant mind boggle. Who can ever really keep up?

After much research, it can be seen that regardless of what diet you?re ?on, it will work the same if you just watch what you eat and know the difference between high calorie and low calorie foods! An average daily calorie intake for women is around 2000 and about 2500 for men. These days, nearly everything we eat will let us know how many calories are contained in a serving.

There are also technological resources, such as calorie counting applications available for your phone. These applications allow you to search from a database of thousands of foods, add your own meal, and calculate the number of calories you?ve eaten that day. Even if you?re extremely motivated and have done some exercise and burnt off some calories for the day, the applications allow you to add your exercise and subtract the calories! At the end of each day the applications give you a rough average of how much you?ll weigh in two weeks or so if you were stick to the same calories each day. Think of it like a goal that?s already set for you!

It?s not too hard to calorie count, after the first week, you get the hang of it, and if you find yourself following the guidelines. You?ll soon forget you?re even doing it and you probably won?t even need to track what you eat every day.

Calorie counting is awesome, it?s not a diet, it?s just knowing what you eat. Incorporating some good exercise and low calorie eating means that delicious piece of chocolate cake is not off the menu!
